🇲🇰 North Macedonia | Skopje: Brutalist architecture gems - Central Post Office and Telecommunication office buildings in Skopje (1972 - 1974 by Janko Konstantinov and master plan by Kenzo Tange). As in Tashkent, a devastating earthquake in 1963 destroyed almost all buildings and the whole city should be rebuild in a modern way. So brutalism was en vogue that time and the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange won the competition and came up with a master plan which looked like a concrete cyber city. So Janko Kontantinov was in charge of the Central Post Office and Telecommunication office buildings in the city center and truly created a brutalist masterpieces. You can find even more brutalist architecture in Skopje from that time, highly recommended to stroll around the city!
