Ledra street crossing in Nicosia is a pedestrian checkpoint between south and North Cyprus. You will need your passport at the checkpoints. In between south and north Cyprus is the green line also known as the buffer zone or no man’s land. The green line runs 180 kilometres across the island and is patrolled by the United Nations peacekeeping force. You walk through a small strip of the green line in between the south and north Cyprus checkpoints at the Ledra crossing. It is extremely thought provoking walking through this area.
