The contribution of women in India’s independence movement, was in no way less than men. But most of the books on Indian History did not include many women freedom fighters who were the harbingers of change and embodiment of woman power. And, it is quite unfortunate, that many names of these brave hearts have been lost. And, the list was also quite especially on the contribution of Muslim women freedom fighters. It is a pity that their role in the struggle for freedom has not been adequately presented in the national history. What is more surprising is the fact that role and contribution of Muslim women in the war of independence and the subsequent movements have been totally ignored by the historians, even though they fought gallantly and suffered heavily.

The voices of Muslim women became louder in the first decade of the 20th century and on the occasion of this 75th Independence Day, let us remember these Muslim women who proved their strength, enthusiasm and determinism in the fight for freedom. They participated in the India’s struggle for independence and emerged victorious though they sacrificed their life for the sake of our motherland. I am extremely happy in presenting this video highligting the contributions of Indian Muslim women towards our country's freedom.
