Many great artists were rendered stateless refugees after the Russian revolution and the following diaspora led to an explosion of ballet in the United States (and throughout the world) from Pavlova touring the world with her company, to the birth of the NYC Ballet, it was a new era in dance brought on by geopolitical tumult.
