I've been playing the US version of this game (called Solar Warrior) at Galloping Ghost Arcade lately; While I managed to also clear it there, the sound quality and camera angle weren't the best so I wanted to give it the 1080p/60fps treatment at home.
A few differences that I noticed between the 2 versions:
The levels in Solar Warrior are actually planet names, i.e. your first level is Saturn, level 2 is Venus, ect. In Xain'd Sleena the levels have totally different, odd names like "Cleemalt Soa" and "Korwal Soa".
In Solar Warrior, the level order cannot be selected; In Xain'd Sleena you can choose the order of the levels you play. The shmup sections between the levels seem to be in a static order, however.
In general, I really enjoy this game. It combines 2 or my favorite genres in run 'n guns and horizontal shmups, and it is fairly straightforward to pickup and play.
It can get a little challenging, since the enemy bullets can basically bounce you into other bullets or enemies themselves. Contacting an enemy is always going to eat away at least half of your life bar, so it's definitely better to take a bullet, then attempt to jump or double jump away to safety afterwards.
Thankfully, the game hands out extra lives like candy on default settings, so that's a huge help if you want to clear the game.
Played on default settings. Recorded with wolfmame .190, and as with all my runs - no TAS (tool assistance), cheats, hacks or save states are used.
Thanks for watching!
