Step-by-step details on 4 ways to use ChatGPT to optimize your LinkedIn profile:
1️⃣ Update your LinkedIn “About” section
– Prompt: "Write a LinkedIn About section using my resume." OR “Write a professional summary using my work experience and include my total years of experience, the keyword “X”, and keep it shorter than 150 words.”
– Type “Shift" + "Enter” to create a new line.
– Copy the text from your resume (ideally from the Teal Resume Builder!) into ChatGPT below the prompt.
– Save your results in a separate document and click "Try Again" to regenerate as many versions as you need.
– Tweak as needed and paste the summary back into the "About" section of your LinkedIn profile.
2️⃣ Optimize your LinkedIn headline
– Prompt: "Write a LinkedIn headline using my resume and keep it shorter than 220 characters.” OR “Write a LinkedIn headline in a conversational tone using my work experience and the keywords “X” and “Y.” Keep it shorter than 220 characters.”
– Type “Shift" + "Enter” to create a new line.
– Copy the text from your resume into ChatGPT below the prompt.
– Save your results in a separate document and click "Try Again" to regenerate as many versions as you need.
– Tweak as needed and paste the headline into your LinkedIn profile.
3️⃣ Update your "Experience" section (aka your LinkedIn resume achievements)
– Prompt: "Write 3 resume achievements for [TITLE] and include success metrics using the keywords X, Y, and Z." (You can pull the keywords from the job description!)
– Type “Shift" + "Enter” to create a new line.
– Copy the text from a job description into ChatGPT below the prompt.
– Save your results in a separate document (or your Teal Resume Builder!) and click "Try Again" to regenerate as many versions as you need.
– Tweak as needed and paste into your LinkedIn "Experience" section.
4️⃣ Write LinkedIn messages
– Prompt: "Write a LinkedIn message to thank the hiring manager for her time for the interview for the [TITLE] role at [COMPANY].” (Or use a similar prompt to check the status of your application!)
– Tweak as needed before sending.
