Grass trimmer ready for an upgrade?
STIHL’s range of battery grass trimmers is one of the biggest in Australia with an impressive eight models. They’ve got you covered, whether you have a small courtyard in the city, a larger block in the suburbs, acreage in the county or if you’re a professional looking to make the switch.
One of the latest models to join STIHL’s impressive lineup of battery powered garden tools is this one, the FSA 60 R. It’s part of STIHL’s AK battery system which now has 11 tools in total, including lawn mowers, chainsaws, blowers and hedge trimmers, all of which are powered by the same battery system and suited to medium to larger sized gardens.
This grass trimmer is light and well-balanced, and being battery powered, there are no cables to drag around and no fuel to mix, all you need to do is pop the battery into the slot, and you’re ready to go. It also gives users the options of using an AutoCut mowing head or a PolyCut mowing head – must show both of these mowing heads when talking about them.
The AutoCut head is a great option if you’re looking to achieve that picture perfect edge around your lawn. If you’re one to let your grass get nice and long, then the the PolyCut head is great at slashing through thick lawn.
The adjustable shaft length also means you can set it to suit your height for comfortable operation, and this wire spacer guard is perfectly designed to meet the same length as the line, meaning you can trim right up to and around your fences, trees and play equipment without leaving any damage behind.
One of the biggest pain points that people find with grass trimmers is feeding line out from the head and reloading new line once it’s run out. Both of these problems aren’t an issue with the FSA 60 R. The mowing head simply needs a tap on a hard surface when the head is at full revs and new line automatically adjusts to the correct length. Once the line has run out, it can be refilled without opening the housing, simply feed through a length of line, turn the knob until its wound in then snip and you are ready to go!
And, when it comes to run time, this trimmer really can go the distance. On a single charge, it’s capable of trimming over 1.25km of lawn edges with the recommended battery.
