Czechs stun Canada with late goal
Adam Jecho's power play goal with 39.4 seconds left gave Czechia a 4-3 win over Canada in the quarter-finals. Canada finishes 5th, their second-worst showing on home ice, and scored only 13 goals in the tournament, tying their lowest total with the 1998 team.
U.S. books SF date with win
The United States, defending gold medallists, dominated Switzerland with a 7-2 victory in the second quarter-final, scoring four goals in the first period and coasting to the win.
Finns hang on to oust Slovaks
Finland secured a 5-3 quarter-final victory over Slovakia, thanks to three goals in the first period. Jesse Nurmi led the way with two goals and an assist, while Jesse Kiiskinen contributed a goal and a helper.
Sweden advances over gutsy Latvia
Sweden edged Latvia 3-2 in the first quarter-final, scoring twice in the first period. Latvia's Eriks Mateiko netted two goals in the second, but they couldn't finish the comeback. David Edstrom scored the game-winner for Sweden
Semi-Final clash:
The Czechs will play the United States in Saturday's semifinals, while Sweden will face Finland for the other spot in Sunday's title game.
