The rainforest on Lord Howe Island is dominated by strangler figs. On one morning, my son and I went out looking for a good example to photograph. Two challenges arose: finding a tree with a good shooting angle and handling the extreme contrast from bright sky in the background to dark shadows in the foreground. We eventually found one and used HDR to handle the exposure contrast. I'm still trying to decide whether I like the colour or black and white version of the photograph.
