The Lakes are the ideal place to relax and have a slow travel weekend. I have solo travelled here a little, and it’s ideal for that, but also for a nice and easy weekend with friends.

Some of the places in this video I visit are

•YHA Ambleside - the ideal family style hostel in Ambleside, I spent £20 a night in a female dorm and felt very safe. Ideal if you need to be on budget.

• Zeffirellis’s Italian, Ambleside - lovely little vegi Italian place with a cinema attached. Ideal romantic night or even for solo travel. You can get a really good main course/cinema ticket deal if you are stuck on things to do

• Alpacy Ever After - check these guys out on Instagram they are so cool. They’ve rescued these Aplacas from domestic homes that couldn’t manage and raise money for them by doing visits. Alpacas enjoy company and are very friendly, perfect for animal lovers

• Castlerigg Stone Circle - a quick stop to see the stone circle, not Scotland but Outlander fans might enjoy it

• Chester’s by the River - outdoor lunch spot that has amazing vegi, fresh food

•Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa - the lovliest spa experience. I paid £95 pp for a 3 hour session in the thermal spa and an afternoon tea in their restaurant. It was really worth it in my eyes
