Have you collected your medication from KKH's Emergency Pharmacy recently? If yes, chances are that they would have been dispensed from our new Robotic Bottle Dispensing System!
A major breakthrough in pharmacy automation, this system is the world’s first automated Bottle Dispensing System, that is able to autoload, pick, assemble and label bottles, replacing many manual tasks involved in dispensing bottled medication. It can pack close to 100% of all bottled medications required at KKH’s Emergency Pharmacy, which serves patients of the hospital’s Children’s Emergency as well as O&G (24-Hour) Clinic. This system also features another industry first – an innovative flag label that enables patients to read the original medication labels on the bottles and reference drug facts and ingredients.
The Bottle Dispensing System is a part of the Outpatient Pharmacy Automation System (OPAS) which provides a complete automated solution for the entire medication dispensing workflow at KKH’s Emergency Pharmacy.
The OPAS at KKH has been announced the winner of the Outstanding ICT Innovation Award at the HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Awards 2015, for the most innovative, creative and “out-of-the box” information and communications technology (ICT) solutions used to improve patient care and safety. The Awards aim to laud the best in class in ICT and Return On Investment across the healthcare industry in the Asia Pacific region.
