Flat used to be a gold mining town back in the early 1900's. Wiley Post had a crash landing in the town during his around the world flight in 1933 (Neat story to look up). The town has since been abandoned and according to the recent census... A whopping 0 people live here (what a surprise). There are a few subsistence life stylers and a family running a mining claim 50-60 miles out from town. Our visit to the town was in support of that family.
