Subaru has finally brought one of its limited-edition, super-hot S cars to the U.S.: the 2019 WRX STI S209. Subaru says this is the fastest STI it has ever made. But with only 200 being produced, you may never get the chance to find out. Edmunds News Editor Will Kaufman gets up close with the super Subaru at the Detroit Auto Show.
Q: What kind of engine and transmission does the 2019 Subaru WRX STI S209 get?
A: Subaru's iconic EJ25 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine packs some upgrades, giving the S209 341 horsepower. The automaker says torque is up 10 percent at 3,600 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission is standard.
Q: How much will the S209 cost and when will it arrive?
A: We won't get details on pricing until closer to when it goes on sale in the U.S., sometime later this year.
