Jidoka –A Lean Manufacturing Tool .This video explains the concept of Jidoka.
Jidoka allows the operation to have a build in quality at each step of a process so the operator does not have to watch the machine or the operation
• It provides machines and operators the ability to detect when an abnormal condition has occurred and immediately stop work when a problem first occurs.
• This enables operations to build in quality at each process by eliminating the root causes of defects.
• It also increases work efficiency by separating workers and machines, which eliminates the need for operators to continuously watch machines, as they can handle several machines at once
Jidoka also means "Automation with a human touch". It means that if a quality / equipment problem arises, the machine will be able to detect the defect on its own and stop, preventing more defective products from being produced.
