Doug Polk has made millions of dollars throughout his career by getting players to call him with the second best hand. Well, he’s up to those tricks again during a huge cash game on the Lodge Card Club’s live stream. Doug manages to river a flush against the loose and splashy Tesla, but can Doug figure out the best way to ensure he extracts the maximum value?
In general, when you're out of position and you are called in multiple spots, you should play turns cautiously and only continue betting with your strongest made hands or strongest draws. Hands such as one-pair are likely not going to be the best hand against your opponents' calling ranges. When there are multiple opponents in a hand your continuing and value range should become much smaller.
Doug Polk ‘WCGRider’ is the owner of The Lodge Card Room along with Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme. Doug has over $9,500,000 in live tournament earnings and 3 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, including a win in the 2017 $100k Super High Roller for $1,600,000. Since 2014 he has played over 108 times on live streamed cash games and has won over $180,000.
James, also known by ""Tesla"" is an American amateur poker player and entrepreneur who lives in Panama City Beach, Florida, USA. This was his first appearance on The Lodge Live Stream. Since 2024, Tesla has played on over 4 live streamed cash games and has lost over $740,000.
In early 2022, poker professionals Doug Polk, Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme joined forces to acquire a controlling stake in The Lodge Poker Club & Card Room, which happens to be the largest poker establishment in Austin, Texas. This exclusive poker club, accessible only to its members, boasts an impressive array of amenities, including over 80 poker tables of cash games and tournaments, operating around-the-clock. Additionally, The Lodge provides an inviting ambiance with 40 large-screen TVs, allowing poker club members to enjoy sports entertainment while playing poker or while relaxing in the cozy waiting area. The live poker stream includes commentary from Skull Mike and Slick Rick, who have been long-time regulars at The Lodge. They provide viewers with strategic insights, complemented by a perfect blend of humor. Lodge Card Club has bought San Antonio's largest poker room, Rounders Card Club, which opened in July 2024. The new Lodge Card Club San Antonio will relocate to a larger space to host bigger tournaments and events. Chaz Gill, known as Big Daddy Chaz, will join Doug Polk, Andrew Neeme, and Brad Owen as a partner to help meet the local poker community's needs. There will be the same top-tier tournaments, cash games and service that Lodge Card Club is known for.
There is also a Lodge Live Stream that has had a variety of different poker players coming to play on stream, these include; Doug Polk ‘WCGRider’, Alex Foxen, Dan Cates ‘Jungleman’, Ben Lamb, Bill Perkins, Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme and Nik Airball.
🔍 Preflop:
With the $400 straddle on, Doug Polk raises to $1,000 from the button. Tesla calls from the small blind with K6o before Goofy calls from the big blind with JTo. Bulldog defends with 53o from the under-the-gun straddle and they head to the flop four-ways.
💸 Flop - Kc 9c 8d:
The king-high, two-club board sees the action check to Doug on the button, who fires out a continuation bet of $1,000 with his relatively weak, three high flush draw. Tesla check-raises to $3,000, having flopped top pair, a backdoor straight draw and a backdoor flush draw. Goofy cold calls the raise with an open-ended straight draw and a backdoor flush draw himself. Bulldog folds with just five-high and Doug makes the call with the current nut low hand.
💣 Turn - 4d:
The 4 of diamonds on the turn introduces a second flush draw. Tesla still has the best hand with a pair of kings and decides to fire out a bet of $11,000. Goofy folds his straight draw, but Doug calls once more with his baby flush draw.
🌊 River - 5c:
Doug finds the perfect river card on the 5 of clubs, improving to the best hand with a flush. Tesla doesn’t seem concerned by the flush completing river and slides out a bet of $25,000 with just one pair. Doug then raises all-in for Tesla’s remaining $118,200. Surely, Tesla must realize his weak top pair is extremely unlikely to be good and will fold, right? Stay tuned for the entire poker video to see what happens!
