On the southwestern coast of Norway is the country's oil capital, the city of Stavanger. It is called so because, after the discovery of oil in the North Sea, the town became a coastal base for the oil industry.
Stavanger is the fourth largest city in Norway and the administrative center of the Rogaland region.
A unique maritime climate reigns here, mild and rather windy. Although Norway is a northern country, in the city of Stavanger, the average temperature in all months is above zero. Here and in winter you can often see green grass. True, and annual precipitation is as much as 1200mm.
The city perfectly combines old and new features. White houses with small courtyards full of flowers and modern buildings are comfortably located in the neighborhood and look very harmonious.
There is an oil museum in Stavanger (Norsk Oljemuseum), it is located on the waterfront and looks extremely futuristic. And generally suitable for any age group. After all, this museum has everything related to the Norwegian mountains, sea, and oil, and many of the exhibits are interactive.
Vågen's old harbor is a charming place to stroll, and it's very cozy to sit at a table in an open-air cafe on the waterfront, taste fresh shrimp, and watch the ships come and go in the busy port.
Not far from Stavanger is the picturesque fjord Lysefjord and boats full of tourists go there from the city center every day. They sail under the city bridge of Stavanger, which looks very beautiful because behind it a multi-layered panorama of blue mountains opens up.
In this video, we invite you to walk with us around the city of Stavanger. We lived there for a year and a half and believe that we know the city well.
We really hope that you will like it, feel free to ask your questions and write your wishes in the comments, we are always pleased to read them! ;)

We are traveling across Norway with a caravan Hymer Eriba Troll 530 Rockabilly. Most of our trips are relatively short and start from Fredrikstad in Norway. For those who are limited in time, you might discover what you could see during a two-day or three-day trip in Southern Norway.
You are welcome to leave your questions in a comment on the video and we will try to answer our best!
