(Sept 13/2024): After completing my first full week of work, I rewarded myself with an unplanned trip to Kitchener, ON for a little railfan session. The city itself was still chaotic with multiple heavy traffic volumes including road construction along the Victoria St stretch leading to downtown Kitchener. And not to mention whenever you leave the station, it creates even more bad traffic starting from Arhens St to the parking lot, making it impossible for you to pull out, mostly happening when a westbound GO train makes their station stop. What's even worse being held at Arhens St is putting your vehicle in reverse to let a GO bus into the lower terminal, creating more chaos in the process.
Firstly I stopped by the Kitchener Station starting with CN L568's awesome trio of BNSF GP39V 2968 & dual ex GATX units. Then catching 3 Kitchener Express GO Trains with one of them at the Duke St crossing which I actually attended a year ago for the last London express a week before it went extinct. The south side of the crossing underwent road work at the time (October 2023) before it was completed at the time I came to the area again (September 2024). Finally wrapping up with 2 more trains including VIA 87's odd coach consist at the St Leger St crossing, just around the corner from where I recently grabbed dinner for the night.
