Loved and admired both in UK and Pakistan, and probably despised and hated by many across the divide, Jemima Khan has crossed more than one unicorn. The former millionaire wife of cricket-legend--turned Pakistani politician Imran Khan has two teenage sons she's bringing up as practicing Muslims in UK. She converted to Islam -- many were unhappy and skeptic - a condition Khan negotiated with her and Jemima accepted heart and soul. She did not "re-convert" as many had predicted. In fact she says she's proud to be a Muslim and continues to be one.
Jemima recently spoke at Quilliam Foundation -- world’s first counter-extremism think tank set up to address the unique challenges of citizenship, identity, and belonging in a globalized world. Jemima and her two sons fall within the bandwidth - converting to Islam (one unicorn) and raising her kids as practicing Muslim (another unicorn) -- in the West by all means.
