The Miles M.52 was intended to be a supersonic aircraft, a testbed designed to support research into supersonic aircraft. It was in development at the same time as the Bell X-1, but high level decisions in the UK government lead to the cancellation of the project before it ever flew.

Since it's the 70th anniversary of the Bell X-1 breaking the sound barrier I thought I'd cover the other side of the story and build a clone of the M.52 in Kerbal Space Program with Realism Overhaul.
