5th Sept 1986 was just like any other day for Neerja until Pan Am flight was hijacked. As soon as she came to know the plane was hijakced by terrorists, she approached to see pilot and co-pilot only to find that they have already run away from plane. She decided to take control of the situation. She hid passports of 41 American passengers present on the flight as they were the actual target. She opened back door of plane to make way for passengers to get rid of the crisis. Good thing is one of the children saved by her that time has now become pilot. Salute Neerja!
