Chimney Rock State Park has the central feature of the rock, which towers above the valley and overlooks Lake Lure. It is a park that charges a hefty entrance fee to visit the feature - $17 per person in 2020. The place is very well kept, reflecting the money they charge. It has an elevator that takes you up 26 stories for those who can not handle the climb. The climb to Chimney rock is all steps - 499 from the upper parking log. It's another 330 steps from there to Exclamation Point. That's a lot of steps.
This video takes you from the parking lot, to Hickory Nut Falls trail, and all the steps to Chimney Rock and Exclamation Point. All 829 steps up and another 829 steps down. Then we took the elevator just because we could and wanted to "get our money's worth".
