In sandwich constructions it is important to have spacers at point loads. The eye bolts create point loads. That load have to be spread out over a larger area. With the help of backing plates and spacers that is done.
Spacers can also be made by remowing the Divinycell and injecting epoxy. I sometimes use that method. Here I use Tufnol.
