Western Maharashtra, Goa and coastal Karnataka are full of ghats and for the truck drivers to travel from Mumbai to Mangalore it takes a lot of time due to narrow and hilly roads, Indian Railways or to be precise Konkan Railways came up with a unique experiment where they load the trucks over a train and ship them to the down south which saves a lot of fuel and time, also the traffic from the Mumbai-Goa road is minimized with the optimal use of RoRo trains!
Location: Dasgaon, Konkan Railways, Maharashtra, India.
Date: Sunday, 25th February 2018.
RoRo service starts from Kolad in Maharashtra and it ends at Suratkal in Karnataka where the trucks gets unloaded and vice versa.
