It had been two years since John Henry last ran in New York. Now being regularly ridden by Chris McCarron, the eight-year-old gelding came looking for another G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup. It wasn't to be. That year's Champion Three-Year-Old, Slew o' Gold, led them home. Slew o' Gold would go on to, like John Henry, be inducted in the Hall of Fame.
