Background:
My friends and I played our first DnD campaign together (the Lost Mine of Phandelver) in quarantine over discord.
As a working musician, of course I rolled a bard. The bonus was, I improvised short songs whenever my bard did a performance check or a bardic inspiration, etc. I also sang Pippen's song from Return of the King when our monk died halfway through the campaign and we had a funeral for him.
Two of us had a small amount of experience in RPing, but most of us were completely new. It was our DM's first time as DM, although he did a phenomenal job and honestly overperformed.
One instance where our DM went above and beyond was an improved encounter with Agatha, the banshee. She became vain, and we were encouraged to compliment and flatter her as a means to persuade her against combat. Of course, this meant my bard ended up sleeping with her. To escape with his life, he offered to write a song in honor of her beauty. He would spread word of her grace to all of Faerun!
My DM said after the session - "you're gonna write that song for next session". I wrote and recorded it, and since my bard had a pirate background, I made it reminiscent of a sea shanty.
As luck would have it, another one of my good friends (who is playing our second campaign with us currently) is a professional artist, and I coaxed him to collaborate with me and make visuals for the song! this is the result. we are immensely proud of it. We figured other DnD fans might get a kick out of it so here it is! hope you enjoy!
"Now gather, friends and travelers, and hearken to my tale
Wonder, shock, and stupor shall befall you without fail
ye men of weak heart and spine, be wary of these lines
for her beauty is unmatched but her advance you can't decline
I warn an lesser specimen to not invest in this pursuit
only the brave, only the strong, may taste the cemetery juice
the cemetery juice
you can scour every village,
you can sail the seven seas
you can plunder every castle, but will find no company
as exquisite as fair Agatha, you'll find none as fair as she
you may fear the banshee's wail, but the banshee wails for me!"
