Johannesburg, October 7 -- Former South African President Thabo Mbeki says Sudanese leader Omar Al-Bashir should not be handed over to the international Criminal Court. He is wanted in connection with the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people killed in the 2003 Darfur conflict. According to Mbeki, Bashir's liberty is vital as the entire region would be destabilised should he be sent to the Hague. Mbeki is head of the African Union panel mediating talks between Sudan and South Sudan.
