The top story for Today's National Weather Forecast is the possibility of a major snowstorm moving through the midwest and northeast towards the start of next week. Before that, parts of New York will pick up a couple inches of snow as lake effect dominates over the area. In the West, two separate systems will be pushing in over the next few days bringing much needed snow to the Sierras and Wasatch. California (which is in extreme drought) will receive some decent rainfall, especially as that second system pushes through. In the south, the remnants of the low pressure system that brought a historic windstorm to California will move through and bring heavy rain to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. There will also be a significant temperature anomaly that will bring warm temperatures to the region.
