At Jawaharlal Nehru University, anti-Brahmin graffiti was scrawled on a number of building walls on Thursday. The Brahmin and Baniya communities are urged to leave the university and the nation by the graffiti, images of which were extensively shared on social media. "We are coming for you" and "We will avenge you" are the slogans. Faculty members' rooms have signs on the doors urging them to return to "shakha," or the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The JNU Teachers Association issued a statement saying it is upsetting to learn of such damage. The university administration released a statement criticising the act and attributing the campus vandalism to "unknown individuals." The incident has been the subject of an investigation. The event involving the defacing of walls and faculty rooms by some unidentified individuals in SIS, JNU, has been taken seriously by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Santishree D. Pandit.
