The last moments of Delta Airlines Flight 191
On August 2nd, 1985, N726DN, a L-1011 Tristar operating as Delta Airlines Flight 191 from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Los Angeles, CA with an intermittent stop in Dallas Forth-Worth, TX encountered a Microburst, undershooted the runway by 1 mile, hit a car on an interstate, then collided into two water tanks and disintegrated around 1 mile away from Runway 17L at DFW.
137 did not survive.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) determined that the crash resulted from the flight crew's decision to fly through a thunderstorm, the lack of procedures or training to avoid or escape microbursts, and the lack of hazard information on windshear.
