What do you do with a prophecy that has been disappointing or unfulfilled? You believed it and put your faith in it….but it didn't happen. Let's talk about it! This has happened to a lot of people who have gone after prophecy at some point and....missed it. Some of this is because we have a lot of desires about things in life and in this we can set up expectations for things. This has happened to me many times in my life.
We need to hang on to this truth: God never changes, His desire for you is good and He has good for you even though things may not have played out the way you thought they would. When you walk with God and believe He is going to speak to you and lead you in life, there are a lot of other opportunities where He will come through. There are those moments when we think we heard something from God and yet there is a big question mark because it didn't come through. Part of maturity is living with the fact you aren't always going to understand everything which can be one of the hardest things.
Hormones and desires can sound like God sometimes. We need to learn how to discern when it's God's voice and when it's our desires for us. This happens often with the prophetic. We pursue the prophetic as the goal versus Jesus Himself and the relationships He's given us. A lot of times when you are disappointed in the prophetic, you can go back to where you lost your hope and find where you left it as Pastor Bill Johnson would say.
