The Youth Day of Service (YDOS) is an annual Pan-African, youth-led social impact campaign that coincides with the UN International Youth Day celebration in August. The campaign aims to harness the energy, creativity, and innovation of African youth by encouraging them to volunteer their time, skills, and resources for sustainable development. YDOS has successfully engaged volunteers and implemented regional SDG Action projects across 24 African countries since its inception in 2020.
The theme for the Youth Day of Service 2023 is "Youthful and Useful: The Road to 2030." This theme emphasises the focus on amplifying the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through YDOS, as 2030 marks the deadline for achieving the SDGs. The goal for YDOS 2023 is to deepen the impact and broaden the knowledge of young people across Africa about the SDGs and the role they can play in realizing these goals by 2030.
