In celebration of record store day, I visited two of my local independent music stores, Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ and the Princeton Record Exchange in Princeton, NJ. There was a really long line at both of these places and they moved incredibly slow. I got a special album released exclusively for this occasion. It's a 2-lp set form the band Dust that has both their self-titled debut and follow-up Hard Attack. The only downside, besides having to wait so long, is that it cost almost 40 bucks! Luckily I got there right in time to snag the last copy they had (unless they had more in the back).
At the princeton Record Exchange the line wasn't as long, but I stood there for over an hour and moved only a couple of feet, so I decided to skip the line and buy some used Cds instead (PREX has the best selection of used cds i've ever seen).
Overall, record store day is a great way to celebrate independent record stores. I sincerely hope these stores continue to stay in business for a long long time.
