UP THE IRONS! \m/ \m/
THANK YOU for including Chicago in your tour and for giving us the opportunity to to see "Flight 666!"
Captained by lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson, "Ed Force One" made a stop at Chicago - O'Hare International / Int'l Airport ( IATA : ORD / ICAO : KORD ) yesterday just prior to the English heavy metal band's performance at the United Center near downtown Chicago as part of their 6-month "Book of Souls" world tour, named after their 2015 album.
Air Atlanta Icelandic Flight 666 Heavy ( ABD666 / CC666 ) landed on O'Hare's runway 2-8-Center ( RWY 28C / 28-Center ) after a short flight from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport ( DTW / KDTW)
This aircraft was painted in her "Iron Maiden" special colors in February 2016 in preparation for the massive, 6-month world tour. On March 12th, 2016, while being repositioned by an aircraft tow vehicle at Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport ( SCL / SCEL ), TF-AAK collided with the tug, damaging both left engines ( engine #1 and engine # 2 ) and the undercarriage. The aircraft was quickly returned to service just 10 days later on March 22, 2016 at an engine replacement cost of $4 Million per powerplant.
