Over 5,300 bodies have been found in the Libyan city of Derna, days after a disastrous deluge wiped out neighbourhoods. At least 30,000 residents have been displaced. Mediterranean Storm Daniel brought intense downpours, triggering widespread flooding. The waters were so powerful that two river dams burst, releasing an enormous deluge that swept away buildings and the people inside. Some 10,000 people are estimated to be unaccounted for. A Libyan minister has appealed for international help, saying the country does not have the experience to deal with such a disaster.
