The model of this “STEF Wagon Standard HI” is from L.S.Models (30 002-2 R). STEF stands for Société Française de Transports et Entrepôts Frigorifiques. The company was founded in France in 1920 specializing in cold transports. In the 1950s were my layout is set STEF had become a subsidiary of the French state railways (SNCF). At that time STEF operated about 1,000 railway cars most of them thermally insulated and refrigerated. Denmark had a sizable export of meat to France so the refrigerated car from STEF is going to be a familiar sight at the slaughterhouse and meat packing plant in Sundborg. Please visit my blog (mostly in Danish) for more on the plans for my 1950s layout: www.sundborg.wordpress.com
