In this session, participants get to enjoy the second day's lunch while also listening to the projects of the 3 Asia Liberty Awards finalists.
The Asia Liberty Awards, part of the Regional Liberty Awards, annually recognize think tanks that have made important contributions to improving the landscape for enterprise and entrepreneurship in their regions.
Khalid Ramizy, General Director of the Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO), presented about the Silk Road Station project, the online radio and television-broadcasting wing of AELSO. He was the winner of Asia Liberty Awards, announced during ALF 2018's gala dinner at the end of that day.
The other two finalists were Casey Lartigue and Akash Shrestha.
Casey Lartigue from Teach North Korean Refugees (TNKR, South Korea) presented about the think tank's project namely Teach North Korean Refugees Global Education Center. The program has inspired refugees to share their stories, and a number of these individuals have become prominent spokespeople for the North Korean refugee experience.
Akash Shrestha, research coordinator at Samriddhi Foundation, talked of the foundation's Reform Circle project, which consisted of a series of roundtable discussions among politicians, policymakers, and business leaders across party lines. “[T]he Reform Circle ensures that political decision makers are brought to a table that puts the economy first,” Shrestha explained.
