Muslim-dominated areas played a key role in the historic win of BJP in Gujarat, even though the saffron party did not field a single Muslim candidate. Split in Muslim votes helped BJP to win the polls at the cost of the Congress.

In Delhi MCD election, the Congress registered its worst-ever performance. It appears that the split in Muslim votes in Delhi helped the party win few seats in the civic polls, as Muslim voters preferred voting for the grand old party over the Aam Aadmi Party.
