This short film takes us to Garhgaon, the capital of Ahom Kingdom in North East of India. The 600 years history of Ahom Kingdom from 1228-1826 A.D is fascinating indeed. With succession of 41 kings, it is perhaps one of the longest running dynasty. Of course, in a geographical terrain conducive for multiple kingdoms, the territorial expansion continued over centuries owing to strong kings such as Suhungmung, Suklenmung and later defenses by personalities like Lachit Borphukan, Chakradhwaja Singha, Gadadhar Singha et al.
This film covers the following important events in chronological order during the period of Garhgaon as the Royal Capital of Ahom Kingdom from 1540-1698 A.D :
1. Suklenmung builds the new royal capital in 1540 A.D
2. Sukhladhwaj aka Chilarai The Kite Prince's raid on to Garhgaon 1562 A.D
3. Mir Jumla, The Nawab of Bengal's invasion of Garhgaon 1662 A.D. The Mughals stay in Garhgaon for a year.
4. Historic Battle of Saraighat 1671 A.D - Lachit Borphukan leads his men to victory over the Mughals
5. Gadadhar Singha's ascension to throne in 1681 A.D brings political stability
6. Rudra Singha shifts the capital to Rongpur 1698 A.D
A film made for purely nonprofit and educational awareness, following objectives are expected to be met:
1. Historical awareness as documentary films, visual medium has more reach than books
2. Sense of preservation of these historical legacies
3. Global awareness of the rich history and promoting "heritage tourism"
