Thanks for watching my CRAS After Hours series! This series is designed to show you helpful tips and hints to help add more tricks to your arsenal. So hang out with me, CRAS IT guy and audio educator Jess Repanshek, on my couch and learn some Pro Tools after hours, because audio isn't just my job, it's my life!
This advanced mix technique is designed to give a ghostly effect to vocals, or a big 80s whoosh to a snare drum. This effect has countless sound design possibilities, and is a great way to add creepy or spooky sound effects to whatever project you are working on. The goal of this effect is to smoothly and seamlessly add reverb tails - which are usually found after a transient sound wave - to the front or beginning of a sound. You can almost hear the sound "coming" to you from some distant, perhaps ethereal place.
This tutorial should guide you through every step in how to make a spooky reverb sound, but it is recommended you have some basic knowledge of Pro Tools signal flow.
