Because so much care was given to every element of its production, including casting, Accused deserves to rank among TV's finest anthology series. Howard Gordon and his colleagues, as showrunners, obviously realize that to explore challenging and intricate storytelling territory, they must not only be exceptional performers capable of bringing those subtleties to life on screen but also the ideal actors for each part. Given Felicity Huffman's legal issues, "Lorraine's Story" will likely provoke debate as it features Huffman as the defendant. However, the episode has a distinct intensity because of this idea of life mimicking art. Viewers may have differing opinions about the actress portraying Lorraine, making it more difficult to determine whether or not they believe her. Furthermore, Huffman accesses a depth of feeling in Lorraine that could not have been conceivable for someone without her experiences, as she breaks down in tears when discussing all she has lost.
