The Cairngorms National Park has some of the finest examples of wildflower rich grasslands remaining in Scotland. Sadly, however, many others have been lost and today only 2% of the UK meadows that existed in the 1930’s remain.
The Mob Grazing for Diversity initiative is working with farmers and volunteers in the National Park to enable natural meadow regeneration through adaptations to grazing management.
This training event with Botanist Ben Averis was held to aid farmers and volunteers in identifying and surveying both rare and common plants found in a variety of grassland types.
The initiative is delivered by the Nature Friendly Farming Network, Pasture for Life, Plantlife and the Cairngorms National Park Authority, and is supported by the Cairngorms Green Recovery Fund 2021.
