On November 3, 1961, President John F. Kennedy signed the Foreign Assistance Act into law and by executive order created the United States Agency for International Development. Today, USAID is the world's premier international development agency.

To commemorate USAID’s 60th anniversary, AFSA was honored to host USAID Administrator Samantha Power to discuss the current and future role of USAID on the global stage and in America’s foreign policy, and what those new directions will mean for the U.S. Foreign Service.
