If you are thinking about growing perennial rye or turf type tall fescue grass from seed then hopefully this video will help you decide between the two.
Both grass types are cool season varieties but they carry in their ability to deal with extreme heat and drought in addition to their ability to be cut short versus tall.
I have been growing both varieties in pots as well as in my yard so I have a lot to say about the two grass types.

Also, for transition zone homeowners looking into a low maintenance heat tolerant grass like tall fescue you may find that Centipede grass may work better for you. It's considered to be a warm season grass type but it never goes dormant during winter. So long as you don't experience many freezing nights during the average winter it could be the perfect grass type for you.
