On a blustery Monday morning, our inner children came out to play. A request for hip openers led to some playful exploration with some additional advice for soothing your inner child from Mary Sidhwani's book How to Find Your True Self Within, Secrets of Relieving Stress and Anxiety. Set yourself up for comfort by placing a blanket or towel beneath your knees for our first pose, child's pose. Then, have a pillow or blanket handy for our final resting heart opener.
Mary Oliver closes out this practice with her poem:
Everything That Was Broken.
Everything that was broken has
forgotten its brokenness. I live
now in a sky-house, through every
window the sun. Also, your presence.
Our touching, our stories. Earthy
and holy both. How can this be, but
it is. Every day has something in
it whose name is Forever.
Yoga is for everyone. However, while practicing with a video it is up to you to assess whether the class you have chosen is right for you. Please modify as needed and if you suffer from any specific injuries or diseases you should consult with your medical practitioner before practicing. Enjoy!
