EU, VTB 등 러시아 7개 은행 SWIFT서 배제...러 최대은행 스베르방크 유럽지사 폐쇄
Seven Russian banks are to be delisted from the SWIFT payment system.
Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that EU ambassadors have agreed to ban seven Russian banks from the SWIFT financial messaging system.
SWIFt enables fast, secure cross-border transactions between thousands of financial institutions.
VTB Bank and Bank Rossiya are among the banks that will be cut from SWIFT overnight, but Russia's biggest lender, Sberbank, was not on the list.
Reuters reported that Sberbank in Europe has closed down following an order from the European Central Bank.
