A quick how to on making a replacement lock work with your motorcycles current key. I called it a helmet lock but that's not really what it is. This is only a quick non professional fix but I've found it serves my need. This should be a cheap quick way to do this with any cylinder type lock including gas tanks, luggage locks, (ignitions if you really needed) and other accessories. as long as you can get it out of the housing. This will help you avoid having to use multiple keys with your motorcycle if you ever need to replace things.
This can all be done with a screwdriver typically but it does help to have flexible metal picks.
A couple quick things that I didn't make clear in the video.
This is all determinate on being able to access the back of the lock. You may find this difficult without removing a lot of parts from the bike.
Once you have access to the back of this kind of lock. Depress the last biscuit or tumbler ( not sure exactly what its called) and push the cylinder out of the housing. You can remove all of the biscuits except the deepest one but keep in mind doing this will allow anything you can stick inside the lock to turn it to unlock the lock. My technique is to keep as many biscuits inside the lock as possible by checking which ones clear the housing with they key you intend to use inserted. Be sure to check the top and bottom to avoid having to take it back out multiple times. The more biscuits or tumblers the stronger and more solid the lock will feel.
I'm not a professional lock smith so my advice should be taken with discretion. Some strength of the lock is sacrificed with the removal of tumblers/biscuits.
