Flow is a business defined path like how an application must progress which can be defined in stages with steps similar to a life cycle.
When creating a life cycle PEGA creates a flow for it such as in each stage where there are a few steps and one of the steps can be invoking activity.
Each rule can be referred from flows where the application lifecycle rate is discussed such as in case steps with assistance request or open process with a flow rule.
