This small botanical garden in la Orotava (Tenerife) was conceived as a nursery for the Botanical Garden in Puerto de la Cruz, although most of the species planted here have remained.
This little space is a haven of peace, which is unusual in La Orotava's historical centre. It houses a unique compendium of plant species, thanks to its special conditions that make it conducive to acclimatisation. Most of the plants are of tropical origin, both African and American. It’s also home to some really unusual plants for these latitudes such as the Roxburgh fig of the Himalayas. You’ll also find one of the most impressive dragon-trees in La Orotava today.
As it is home to numerous birds, a short walk through this place will open your senses to a wealth of songs and plant and flower fragrances. Take a moment to enjoy and then head towards the town hall to discover its art collections.
