Project Sponsor owns the project and provide required resources for a project. Project sponsor is in charge of the project and accountable to continue it but he is not involved in project execution as project manager.
Project sponsorship identifies and defines the project while project management delivers the project.
• According to PMBOK® Guide a Project Sponsor is “a person or group who provides resources and support for the project, program or portfolio for enabling success.
• The Project Sponsor involves in project throughout all the phases.
• Mostly Project Owners hire project sponsor.
