A Disability Rights Advocate’s Guide to FEMA's Disaster Assistance Appeals Process (August 2023)
This training was hosted by Pro Bono Net in partnership with Legal Aid of Sonoma County, the Disaster Legal Assistance Collaborative, and Disability Rights Texas. The training was made possible by the generous support of the Bigglesworth Family Foundation.
This training focused on the 1.) process lawyers and other advocates working with survivors must follow if they want to appeal FEMA's determination on disaster assistance; 2.) specific information that attorneys and advocates should know about when working on a FEMA appeal with a disaster survivor that has a disability, and 3.) how to use Pro Bono Net's bilingual FEMA appeal letter online program (www.femaappeals.org).
